Giving it their best shot
Twelve members of the Columbia County 4-H Shotgun Team and coaches went to Forsyth, Ga., and competed in the Georgia 4H State Sporting Clays Competition. In the adult division, coach Jimmy Tiller (right) took third place, and Greenbrier's Jesse Patterson took third place in the senior division. Also competing were Greg Banford, Terry Hyatt, Dakota Banford, Hunter Hyatt, Marlee Garner, Luke Johnson, Franklin Knox, Jacob Matherly, Jonathan Saul and Grey Surles.

Firefighters ' boot drive
Martinez-Columbia Fire Rescue Lt. Jamie Champion collects donations Thursday during the annual Boot a Buck for Burns. Firefighters will continue collecting today and again Thursday through May 22 in various locations in Columbia County. Last year, fire departments in the county collected more that $40,000 for the Southeastern Firefighters Burn Foundation.

Sports Calendar
The Augusta Rowing Club will hold its 10th Annual National Learn to Row Day on June 4 at the Boat House, 101 River Front Dr., Augusta. The event will run from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Members of the club will offer tours, ergometer (rowing machine) demonstrations and instructions, hands-on lessons on the dock, and on-water instructions.

Camps Calendar
