Keeping our pledge to America, House Republicans are finding new ways to cut spending and eliminate government waste. With the national debt at $14 trillion, there is much work to be done. However, with the support and continued involvement of 10th District residents, I am optimistic that we can change the culture of outrageous spending to a culture of savings and constitutionally-limited government in Washington.

The Augusta Alzheimer's Association will take a bus to the state Capitol on March 15 for Alzheimer's Awareness Day. A gun, suspected of being a former Columbia County Sheriff's Office weapon, used in a shooting at the Anderson (S.C.) Mall on Feb. 5 has never been registered to the sheriff's office, sheriff's Capt. Steve Morris said.
The CSRA Home Education Association MathCounts team won first place at the regional MathCounts competition at ASU on Feb. 5. Kitty Shepherd, Samantha Stewart and Christopher Page took first, second and third in the written individual contest and first, third and second in the oral Countdown round, respectively. It was a clean sweep for the home-school group in a competition with 10 local middle schools and 80 students. The students will go on to the State MathCounts competition at Georgia Tech on March 25.
