Who's Who

Hannah Lea , of Martinez, a student at Presbyterian College in Clinton, S.C., has been selected to "Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges." Lea will be recognized during an Honors Day ceremony on the PC campus on April 14 and included in a national student profile book.

ASU Honor Society inductees

More than 85 Augusta State University students were selected to be inducted in to the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest, largest, and most selective all-discipline honor society. Among the inductees were 27 students who live in Columbia County.

The ASU chapter of Phi Kappa Phi held its initiation ceremony on Friday, Dec. 3, in the Jaguar Student Activities Center Ballroom.

Coastal Carolina University graduate

Rachel Maas, of Evans, graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor of arts degree from Coastal Carolina University at the Dec. 11 commencement ceremonies.

Mideast study

Michael Palmese , of Martinez, is one of a dozen Georgia Southern University honor students spending two weeks in the Middle East on a study abroad experience this month. Palmese is a 2008 graduate of Lakeside High School.

Challenge grads

Five Columbia County teens graduated from the National Guard-sponsored Youth Challenge Academy at Fort Stewart during commencement ceremonies in Macon, Ga., on Dec. 18.

Robert Breitinger , Ryan Morris and Issac Schroder of Martinez; Reuben Butler of Evans; and Jonathon Strickland of Grovetown successfully completed the 22-week, in residence youth development program for at-risk youth located at Fort Stewart, near Savannah.

Young Harris Dean's List

Jesse Howard Carter and Vincent Peter Brannigan have been named to the Young Harris College Dean's List for the fall semester. Carter, a senior at Young Harris, is a graduate of Greenbrier High School and the son of Jeffery and Lisa Carter of Evans. Brannigan, a junior, is a graduate of Lakeside High School and the son of James and Susan Brannigan of Martinez.

Piedmont College fall honors

The following students from Columbia County have been awarded academic honors for the recently completed fall semester at Piedmont College. Kevin D'Antignac , of Evans, was named as a Dean's Scholar, Alexandra J. Mahoney , of Grovetown, was named to the Dean's List.

Brewton-Parker Dean's List

Kevin Nelson of Evans and Ryan Howard Shipp of Martinez were named to the Dean's List at Brewton-Parker College in Mount Vernon, Ga., for the fall semester.
