On Vacation
Dr. Kenneth Ward recently escorted a group from Martinez and Augusta on a tour to see the fall foliage in New England. The group visited the White Mountains of New Hampshire, the Green Mountains of Vermont and the Amish country around Lancaster, Pa. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is accepting real Christmas trees for recycling through today at Riverside Middle School on Furys Ferry Road in Evans.

Pet Adoption Showcase
These pets are available for adoption from Columbia County Animal Services. For more information, call (706) 541-4077 or visit www.columbiacountyga.gov and follow the links to Animal Services. Adult animals cost $25 to adopt, and puppies and kittens cost $20. Adopted animals must be spayed or neutered. Visitors must wear closed-in shoes to visit the kennel area, which is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays. The facility is at 6337 Columbia Road in Appling.
