Orthopedic practice moves office to new larger location
Physicians with Orthopaedic Associates of Augusta recently started seeing patients at 2511 Associates Way. The practice is tucked behind Evans Town Park, a retail and office complex at North Belair and Hereford Farm roads.

Grovetown council seats to be filled Jan. 10
Resignations from two Grovetown councilmen were to go into effect Saturday, and it appears the two seats will remain vacant for at least another week.

Haley Sanders, an eighth-grader at Riverside Middle School, was chosen to be on the America's Clogging Hall of Fame Junior All-American Team for 2010. She received her award at the Stompin Ground in Maggie Valley, N.C., on Oct. 22.

The Army Corps of Engineers is accepting real Christmas trees, not artificial trees, for recycling through Wednesday at Riverside Middle School on Furys Ferry Road in Evans.

Police blotter
A 24-year-old Harlem man died from injuries he received in a single-car crash Tuesday on U.S. Highway 221 near Harlem. Trooper 1st Class Matthew MacDonald, of the Georgia State Patrol post in Grovetown, identified the victim as Jacob Carlyle Davis, of Harlem.

I was in the fifth grade when the Civil War centennial began back in 1961. For a kid growing up in Georgia, it was a lot of fun to read about the old battles and the men who fought them.

Word recently came down that SACS has decided to take its finger off the trigger, and won't execute the Warren County school system's accreditation after all.

There are many things that irked me in 2010
As I prepare for 2011, I've thought a lot about 2010. For my first column of the new year, I considered giving my thoughts on how the current basketball season will unfold, or discussing the top sports stories of 2010, both of which would have made decent topics.
