An Evans medical office has moved across North Belair Road to a larger facility.

Physicians with Orthopaedic Associates of Augusta recently started seeing patients at 2511 Associates Way. The practice is tucked behind Evans Town Park, a retail and office complex at North Belair and Hereford Farm roads.
The move was prompted in part by a need for more office space in a practice seeing an average of 150 to 200 patients each week in Columbia County, said Paul Herzwurm, an orthopedic surgeon and president of Orthopaedic Associates of Augusta.
"We're going to try and expand our presence in Columbia County," he said.
By moving from University Health Care System's Evans campus, the practice nearly doubled in square footage, expanding from about 3,000 square feet to more than 5,700 square feet.
"The X-ray area is about as big as the old office was," said Herzwurm, who has been with the group for 15 years.
The new office also includes a nurses' station, a new MRI machine and eight exam rooms, double the number in the old location, said Cissy Bowden, practice administrator.
"We built it big enough so two of our doctors could be out there at one time," she said.
Orthopaedic Associates of Augusta first opened in 1969 and specializes in general orthopedics, total joint replacement, arthroscopic surgery, hand and foot surgery and treatment of spinal disorders, as well as sports medicine and rehabilitation.
The main office is in the University Hospital Professional Center downtown, but an Evans location was opened in 1985, Bowden said.
Ten physicians rotate between the two locations.
The practice isn't the only one getting a new Evans location. In March, a pediatric medical practice is expected to open just around the corner from Orthopaedic Associates of Augusta.
Pediatric Partners plans to locate in a 16,000-square-foot building on Town Park Lane in Evans.
