Man accused of hitting woman with beer bottle
A Martinez man was arrested Friday after he hit a Statesboro, Ga., woman with a broken beer bottle, according to police.
Kevin Blake Wall, 19, of the 100 block of Old Evans Road, was charged with aggravated battery. He was released from the Columbia County Detention Center on Saturday after posting a $25,100 bond, according to jailers.
An 18-year-old woman called police about 2 a.m. claiming she was at a Martinez apartment when Wall hit her in the face with something. The woman said she never saw the object in Wall's hand but thought it might have been a cell phone.
A witness told police he saw Wall hit the woman with a broken beer bottle.
The woman had several cuts on her face and was taken to Doctors Hospital by a friend.
Playground vandalized
Someone recently vandalized Evans Elementary School by marring playground equipment with vulgar graffiti.
At about 1 p.m. Saturday, someone called police to report the vandalism at the school at 628 Gibbs Road in Evans. Police found obscenities written on the playground equipment with a marker.
Windows broken in home
An Evans man called police Saturday after he discovered broken windows in a rental home.
The man said he arrived just before 7 p.m. to prepare to show the vacant Martinez home to potential renters and found five broken windows on the back side of the house. He said he found rocks and fishing weights around the windows.
A neighbor told the man he saw a juvenile with a slingshot on the roof of the home behind the rental house.
Electronics, shoes stolen in break-in at Martinez home
A Martinez woman told police Friday that someone broke into her home and stole electronics and shoes.
The 40-year-old woman said she left her Flowing Wells Road home about 10 a.m. Thursday. When she returned about 4 p.m. Friday, she found the back door open.
The woman said a laptop computer, Playstation 3, Xbox 360, Wii and Nintendo DS game consoles and four pairs of Nike and Louis Vuitton shoes were missing.
Woman says obscene photos sent to cell phone
A Clarks Hill, S.C., woman called police to Evans on Sunday claiming she had received obscene text message photos to her mobile phone.
The 57-year-old woman said she received two text messages Thursday that included nude photos of a man.
