Hike-Bike winners

Doug Deckert, 12, won first prize at the recent Hike-Bike event to raise money for the mentally retarded in Columbia County. Doug, a student at Grovetown Elementary School and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Deckert of Grovetown, rode the entire 18 miles and raised $368.24. He won a new 10-speed bicycle.

Debbie Sanders, who attends North Columbia Elementary School, also was presented a bicycle for winning second place. She collected $248.82.

Art-contest winner

A Martinez youngster's drawing of his favorite American revolutionary hero eating a balanced breakfast won him a $5-a-week allowance for a year in the Kellogg company's Stick Up For Breakfast Picture Contest.

Richard Blume was one of 555 winners nationwide.
