Small dogs rescued
Thirty-eight small-breed dogs and puppies were rescued from puppy mills in Missouri, where they had been headed to an auction house where they would have been sent to laboratories or sold as "breeders."
Evans High School held the second annual Columbia County Math Tournament on Oct. 2, and the Evans Middle School math team won first place overall. Two Columbia County residents died last week of injuries suffered in separate car wrecks.
Over the Labor Day weekend, Bill and Marcia DeHaven celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary at The Hamptons on Long Island. They took a day trip to the Roosevelt home, Sagamore Hill at Oyster Bay, and they toured the North Fork out to Orient Point. The road trip also included visits with grandchildren in Virginia and North Carolina.
