Thirty-eight small-breed dogs and puppies were rescued from puppy mills in Missouri, where they had been headed to an auction house where they would have been sent to laboratories or sold as "breeders." Two local groups, CSRA Happy Tails Rescue and Pet Animal Resource Center, are coordinating the rescue with volunteers who have built pens, Animal Boutique and Dogma Grooming providing grooming services, and Caremore Animal Hospital, Wester Vet Clinic and Dr. Sammi Flynn of Snap-Back Clinic providing medical services. Tractor Supply Store on Bobby Jones Expressway is also assisting with food donations. The rescues are in need of puppy chow, small-breed dog food, puppy- and small-sized biscuits, newspapers, bleach, towels, blankets and volunteers, along with monetary donations. For information, call (706) 955-0438 or (706)364-1435, or go to csrahappytails.com or petparc.com. The dogs will be available for adoption after a one-week observation period.
