When I worked to organize the 2009 and 2010 Augusta Tea Parties, participants were emphatic that they wanted to elect fiscal conservatives with a business backgrounds to make sure their tax dollars are being well spent. On Tuesday, the voters of the District 2 will choose a new school board representative to replace Mickey Blackburn. Carl Schluter is the only candidate with a financial background and business experience that voters say they want.

Shcluter graduated cum laude from USC-Aiken with a degree in finance before pursuing a juris doctorate at Mercer. After serving as a state prosecutor, he put his business knowledge to work and opened his own law firm. As a business owner, Schluter knows the importance of making conservative financial decisions to guard against shortfalls in cash flows.

The Columbia County school board needs someone with Schluter's business experience to navigate our schools through this period of budget shortfalls without sacrificing quality education and without raising taxes. We need someone who understands the budgetary process and can make sound financial decisions without relying on the expertise of other board members.

I encourage you to vote for Carl Schluter on Tuesday so that Columbia County taxpayers can rest assured that their tax dollars are being well managed.
