Fall festivities plentiful at area churches

For families looking for alternatives to trick-or-treating this weekend, several area churches are offering free fall festivals:

Mosaic United Methodist Church, 478 Columbia Industrial Boulevard in Evans, will hold a family fall fest from 6-8 p.m. Saturday with food, games, candy, face-painting and crafts. Friendly costumes are requested. For information, e-mail megan@mosaicumc.org or call (706) 627-6314.

Harlem United Methodist Church, 115 W. Milledgeville Road, will hold a "trunks of treats" Halloween festival from 6-9 p.m. Saturday. The church pumpkin patch is open afternoons until 7 p.m. through Sunday. For information, call (706) 556-6885.

Bethesda Baptist Church, 5793 Old Augusta Highway in Harlem, will hold a fall festival from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, with games, lunch and a bake-off. For information, call (706) 556-6818.

Church of Our Savior, 4227 Columbia Road, in Martinez, will hold a fall festival and "Holy Ghost Weenie Roast" starting at 4:30 p.m. Sunday. Costumes are encouraged but not necessary. For information, call (706) 863-1718.

Sharon Baptist Church will hold a fall carnival from 3-5 p.m. Sunday at Winfield Community Center on Cobbham Road, with a silent auction, inflatables, games, hayrides and cake walks. Guests should bring chairs for a singing that will follow. For information, call Jean Kelly at (706) 541-1532.
