Marker unveiled

Hennis, the builder of the arch and columns that stood in front of the old Evans Middle School. George Scott Dillard, 44, of the 300 block of Sugarcreek Drive in Grovetown, was charged with driving under the influence on June 17, 2010, and was fined $1,529.
Leukemia benefit
Avail, on Columbia Road in Evans, gave free haircuts to customers on Aug. 29, in return for a donation to benefit Carson Busby, who has leukemia.

Baylee Williams, a guest services representative for the Marshall Family Y in Evans, works out on a pink treadmill. During Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, the treadmill's manufacturer, Cybex, will donate 10 cents to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation for every mile logged on one of the the pink treadmills at any of the Family Y locations.
