Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Timothy M. Crowley , son of Barbara A. and Dennis S. Crowley of Grovetown, recently was promoted to his current rank while serving at Navy Recruiting District, Raleigh, N.C. Crowley was promoted based on sustained superior job performance and proficiency in his designated specialty. Crowley is a 1999 graduate of Evans High School.

Enlistments

Robert J. Palmese , son of Sharon D. and Joseph E. Palmese of Martinez, recently enlisted in the Navy under the Delayed Entry Program at Navy Recruiting District, Raleigh, N.C. Palmese will report for active duty to undergo basic training at the Navy's Recruit Training Center, Great Lakes, Ill. Palmese is a 2009 graduate of Lakeside High School.

Joshua S. Savage , son of Donna J. Savage of Grovetown, recently enlisted in the Navy under the Delayed Entry Program at Navy Recruiting District, Raleigh, N.C. Savage is a 2009 graduate of Evans High School.

Nadin Tafro , son of Nermana and Rusmir Tafro of Grovetown, recently enlisted in the Navy under the Delayed Entry Program at Navy Recruiting District, Raleigh, N.C.

Stanley M. Norton , son of Evelyn D. and Stanley R. Norton of Evans, recently enlisted in the Navy under the Delayed Entry Program at Navy Recruiting District, Raleigh, N.C. Norton is a 2009 graduate of Lakeside High School.

Jacob A. Shafer , son of Tina L. Prescott Shafer and Richard A. Shafer of Appling, recently enlisted in the Navy under the Delayed Entry Program at Navy Recruiting District, Raleigh, N.C. Shafer is completing his senior year at Greenbrier High School.

Deployment returns

Army Spc. Carlo J. Masaracchia has returned to Fort Richardson, Anchorage, Alaska, after being deployed to Afghanistan for one year. The soldier is one of 3,500 members of the 4th Airborne Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division stationed at Fort Richardson. He is the son of Carlo J. Masaracchia of Martinez and Tina L. Masaracchia of Evans and a 2007 graduate of Evans High School.

Army National Guard Sgt. Jeremy K. Taylor has returned to the U.S. after a deployment to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Taylor, an infantry team leader, is a member of the 1st Battalion, 121st Infantry Regiment. He has served in the military for more than five years. He is the son of Kelly G. and Tonya M. Taylor of Martinez and a 2004 graduate of Evans High School.

Navy Seaman Travis A. Teston , son of Herman K. Teston of Grovetown, recently completed Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

Army Pvt. Nicholas L. Delaware has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. He is the son of Meshell and Peggy Delaware of Augusta and is a 1997 graduate of Harlem High School.

Army Pfc. Zachary S. Taylor has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia. He is the son of Gary and Miley Taylor of Appling and a 2009 graduate of Greenbrier High School.

Navy Seaman Recruit John T. Hodges , son of Tracy J. Chavous of Martinez and John B. Hodges of Augusta recently completed Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. Hodges is a 2005 graduate of Lakeside High School.

Army Pfc. LaToya E. Briggs has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia. She is the daughter of Herbert Briggs of Martinez and graduated in 1999 from Butler High School, Augusta, and received an associate degree in 2009 from Augusta Technical College.

Army Pvt. Corey A. Bennett has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. He is the son of Monique Shaffer of Grovetown and is a 2008 graduate of Harlem High School.

Army Pvt. Meghan K. Cox has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia. She is the daughter of Patricia Cox of Evans, and sister of Kristen Carroll of Augusta. Cox is a 2004 graduate of Lakeside High School, Evans.

Marine Corps Pfc. Josh W. Thompson , son of Sandra L. Leaf of Grovetown and John W. Thompson of Stacy, Minn., recently graduated from the Marine Corps Basic Combat Engineer Course at Marine Corps Engineer School, Marine Corps Base, Camp Lejeune, N. C.

Army Pvt. Nathaniel R. Scott has graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla. Scott is the son of Nathan Scott of Appling, and a 2008 graduate of Greenbrier High School.

Air Force Academy trainees

Dylan D. Turner has entered Basic Cadet Training at the U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colo., in preparation to enter the first academic year at the academy. He is the son of Randy and Jodi Turner of Appling, and a 2009 graduate of Greenbrier High School.

Nicole A. Burdette has entered Basic Cadet Training at the U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colo., in preparation to enter the first academic year at the academy. Burdett is the daughter of Laurel Burdette of Evans, and a 2010 graduate of Greenbrier High School.

Stephen M. Baker has entered Basic Cadet Training at the U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colo., in preparation to enter the first academic year at the academy. Baker is the son of Patrick and Mary Baker of Martinez, and 2010 graduate of Evans High School.
