A Cajun menu is guaranteed to spice up an evening of dancing, music and auctions to benefit the American Cancer Society.

The cancer society is holding its third annual Boule on the Bayou from 7 to 11 p.m. Friday at Savannah Rapids Pavilion.

The event will feature a Cajun buffet, live jazz, dancing, games and a silent auction, said Lisa Bryant, a cancer society community manager. The menu is traditional Cajun food provided by French Market Grille West restaurant.

"We've been talking gumbo, creole, some marinated catfish, that kind of stuff," Bryant said. "And, of course, their famous bread pudding; I think everybody loves that."

Garden City Jazz with Karen Gordon will provide entertainment.

"We're very excited about that," Bryant said.

The silent auctions will include a cowboy hat signed by Richard Petty; a Harbour Town Golf Links pin flag signed by Jim Furyk, 2010 winner of the Verizon Heritage tournament; concert posters; hotel stays; art pieces; and gift certificates to area restaurants and salons.

Bryant also said prizes will be awarded throughout the night for winners in "games of chance and games of skill."

Bryant said she is still accepting donations for the auction and games.

"I'll accept a donation the day of if someone brings it to me," she said. "There's nothing too big or too small."

Tickets cost $75 each or $600 for an eight-person table and include dinner, beer and wine. A cash bar for other alcoholic beverages will be available.

Proceeds benefit the cancer society, which provided numerous programs to 400 cancer patients in the 2009-10 fiscal year, including transportation; Look Good, Feel Good classes; wigs for those undergoing treatment; and prosthetics and bras for mastectomy patients.

The evening is one of the cancer society's two major annual fundraisers. The other is the Relay for Life.

"We'd like to raise $25,000 with this event," Bryant said. "That's what we're shooting for."

Advance tickets are available at www.bouleonthebayou.com or by calling the Augusta office of the American Cancer Society at (706) 731-9900.

Tickets will be available at the door if space is available.
