Columbia County Emergency Management is recruiting volunteers to serve as simulated victims for a full-scale exercise that will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 15.

We currently have 62 CERT members confirmed, but still need 50 to 60 more men or women, 18 years of age or older, in order to provide the numbers needed to fully test the "Community Decontamination System" that our local hospitals have put into place.

We would need the "victims" from 8 a.m. until about noon and would need them to wear old clothes that they will not need to get back - with a bathing suit or shorts and T-shirt underneath - because they will get wet as part of this exercise. The water will be warm.

If anyone is interested in signing up or would like more information, please e-mail us at emergencymanagement@columbiacountyga.gov. We appreciate your help in keeping our community prepared for emergencies.
