Marine Corps Pvt. Zackary R. Bennington , son of Marsha R. Sourdiff of Martinez, recently completed 12 weeks of basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C.

Navy Airman Recruit Kyle L. Nanning , son of Russell L. Nanning of Evans, recently completed Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

Army Pfc. Christina M. DiGusto graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia. Her husband, Anthony, is the son of Anthony J. DiGusto Sr., of Evans. She is a 2001 graduate of Augusta Technical School.

Army Reserve Pvt. Carlos D. Beard has graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Knox, Ky. He is the son of LeRoy Jones, and Vivian A. Beard of Harlem, and a 2008 graduate of Harlem High School.

Marine Corps Pvt. Jason S. Dickenson , son of Betty J. and Larry M. Dickenson of Martinez, recently completed 12 weeks of basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C.

Army Spc. Joshua Jackson has graduated from One Station Unit Training at Fort Knox, Ky., which included basic combat training and advanced individual training. He is the son of Michelle Johnson of Harlem.

Army Pvt. Jonathan D. Weischedel has graduated from One Station Unit Training at Fort Leonard Wood, Waynesville, Mo. The course of instruction included basic military training and advanced individual training. Weischedel is the son of Mary A. and David F. Bowen of Thomson, and a 2007 graduate of Thomson High School.

Army Pvt. Joseph G. Saldana has graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla. He is the son of Guadalupe Saldana of Martinez, and a 2008 graduate of Evans High School.

Army Pfc. April D. Bennett-Brown has graduated from the Field Artillery Surveyor/Meteorological Crewmember Advanced Individual Training course at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla. She is the daughter of Autrey D. Demmons of Appling, and a 2005 graduate of Greenbrier High School.

Army Pfc. Jeffery T. Munoz has graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla. He is the son of Yvette Munoz of Martinez, and a 2009 graduate of Evans High School.

Army Pvt. Joseph G. Saldana has graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla. He is the son of Guadalupe Saldana of Martinez and is a 2008 graduate of Evans High School.

Army Pvt. Robin N. Dennis graduated from One Station Unit Training at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., which included basic training and advanced individual training. Dennis is the daughter of Cheryl D. and Robbie Dennis of Augusta, a 2007 graduate of Westside High School, and a 2009 graduate of Georgia Military College.

Army Pvt. Jennie A. Maxwell has graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla. Maxwell is the daughter of Johnnie and Irmgard Maxwell of Martinez, and a 2007 graduate of Evans High School.

Navy Airman Recruit Scott A. Smiley , son of Tammy L. Smiley of Helena, Ala., and Scott A. Smiley of Evans, recently completed Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. Smiley is a 2009 graduate of Greenbrier High School.

Army National Guard Pfc. Ryan N. Crosby graduated from the Field Artillery Automated Tactical Data Systems Specialist Advanced Individual Training course at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla. Crosby is the grandson of Charles W. Woods of Grovetown, and son of Karen D. Vallee of Appling. Crosby is a 2008 graduate of Greenbrier High School.

Army Pvt. Thomas Stephens has graduated from the Infantryman One Station Unit Training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. The training consists of Basic Infantry Training and Advanced Individual Training. He is the son of Tracy Stephens of Grovetown.

Army Pvt. Blake O. Kesler has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia. He is the son of Todd and Teresa Kesler of Evans and is a 2008 graduate of Greenbriar High School.

Army Pvt. Emily S. Lowe has graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla. She is the daughter of Jamie Tudor of Grovetown and is a 2007 graduate of Harlem High School.

Army Pvt. Tyrone A. Eady has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia. He is the son of Lou Carter of Grovetown and is a 2008 graduate of the Brunswick Job Corps Center.

Promotions

Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Timothy M. Crowley , son of Barbara A. and Dennis S. Crowley of Grovetown, recently was promoted to his current rank while serving at Navy Recruiting District, Raleigh, N.C. Crowley was promoted based on sustained superior job performance and proficiency in his designated specialty. Crowley is a 1999 graduate of Evans High School.

Enlistments

Robert J. Palmese , son of Sharon D. and Joseph E. Palmese of Martinez, Ga., recently enlisted in the United States Navy under the Delayed Entry Program at Navy Recruiting District, Raleigh, N. C. Palmese will report for active duty to undergo basic training at the Navy's Recruit Training Center, Great Lakes, Ill. Palmese is a 2009 graduate of Lakeside High School.

Joshua S. Savage , son of Donna J. Savage of Grovetown, recently enlisted in the United States Navy under the Delayed Entry Program at Navy Recruiting District, Raleigh, N. C. Savage is a 2009 graduate of Evans High School.

Nadin Tafro , son of Nermana and Rusmir Tafro of Grovetown, recently enlisted in the United States Navy under the Delayed Entry Program at Navy Recruiting District, Raleigh, N.C.

Stanley M. Norton , son of Evelyn D. and Stanley R. Norton of Evans, recently enlisted in the United States Navy under the Delayed Entry Program at Navy Recruiting District, Raleigh, N. C. Norton is a 2009 graduate of Lakeside High School.

Jacob A. Shafer , son of Tina L. Prescott Shafer and Richard A. Shafer of Appling, recently enlisted in the U.S. Navy under the Delayed Entry Program at Navy Recruiting District, Raleigh, N. C. Shafer is completing his senior year at Greenbrier High School.

Deployment returns

Army Spec. Carlo J. Masaracchia has returned to Fort Richardson, Anchorage, Alaska after being deployed to Afghanistan for one year. The soldier is one of 3,500 members of the 4th Airborne Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division stationed at Fort Richardson. He is the son of Carlo J. Masaracchia of Martinez and Tina L. Masaracchia of Evans and a 2007 graduate of Evans High School.

Army National Guard Sgt. Jeremy K. Taylor has returned to the U.S. after a deployment to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Taylor, an infantry team leader, is a member of the 1st Battalion, 121st Infantry Regiment. He has served in the military for more than five years. He is the son of Kelly G. and Tonya M. Taylor of Martinez, and a 2004 graduate of Evans High School.
