Silent auction

Evans High School's baseball program will hold its annual silent auction Saturday from 10 a.m. until noon in the school's commons area. Up for auction will be gift certificates, golf outings, memorabilia and other items. For information, contact coach Ricky Beale at (706) 863-1198, ext. 4054, or rbeale@ccboe.net.

Soccer registration

The Marshall Family Y in Evans will hold fall soccer league registration through July 9 for interested participants in Evans and Grovetown. The coed league is for ages 3-10. Practices and games for those in Evans will take place at the Augusta Jewish Community Center and Oakey Grove Church. Practices and games for those in Grovetown will be at Goodale Park and at the Evans locations. Practices start the week of Aug. 9. Parents need to provide a water bottle, cleats, shin guards and soccer shorts for their child to participate.

Golf car raffle

The Georgia RiverDawgs 10-Under travel ball team is raffling a four-passenger Club Car gas golf car with canopy top and windshield. Tickets are $5. The drawing will take place this month. Tickets can be purchased by calling (706) 945-4621.

Players wanted

A 12-Under travel baseball team is seeking additional players for its upcoming season. Players must not have turned 13 before May 1. For information, contact Kevin Thompson at (706) 533-5299 or Donald Long at (706) 339-1257.

Golf tournaments

The second annual Grovetown High School Warrior Golf Classic will take place Saturday at Bartram Trail Golf Club. All proceeds will go to the Grovetown High School Athletic Department. The cost is $300 per team or $75 per person. The tournament will start at 8:30 a.m. and prizes will go to the top teams. For information, contact Todd Booker at (706) 910-9644 or (706) 447-2102.

The annual CSRA Parent-Child Championships will take place Sunday at Bartram Trail Golf Club. The format will be a two-person Scramble/Lauderdale for all ages. There will be a 1:30 p.m. shotgun start. The cost is $50 per team for Bartram Trail members and $90 per team for non-members. Junior golfers may play with a parent or grandparent. Augusta Junior Golf Magazine Tour tournament dates include Tuesday at Forest Hills Golf Club, June 28 at Bartram Trail Country Club, July 5 at Midland Valley Country Club, July 13 at Persimmon Hill Golf Club, July 19 at Belle Meade Country Club, and Aug. 2 at Jones Creek Golf Club. Bartram Trail Golf Club will provide three instructional golf clinics this summer for children ages 6-14. Each clinic will run from 8-10 a.m. daily. The upcoming session will take place Monday-Thursday, and two other clinics will be July 12-15 and July 26-29. The instructor is Lee Henry. Cost is $90 for each instructional clinic. Boating

Savannah Riverkeeper will play host to an evening paddle on Thursday. A donation of $15 is requested for each participant. The 90-minute tour will launch from the landing at River Island community at 6 p.m. Boaters will paddle toward the Fury's Ferry bridge and explore Deep Step, a former cypress swamp. Paddlers are encouraged to bring their own boat. Canoe and kayak rentals are available through Broadway Bait and Tackle in Augusta, (706) 738-8848. For information, call (706) 826-8991.

The U.S. Coast Guard Auxilliary and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will hold a boating safety course June 26 at Thurmond Dam Visitors Center, located on Route 221, just on the South Carolina side of Thurmond Dam. Class will start at 8:30 a.m. and be completed by 4:30 p.m. There will be a 30-minute lunch break, and participants should bring their own lunch. There will also be optional on-water training. Completion of the course satisfies both Georgia and South Carolina boating safety education requirements. The class fee is $35 for an individual and $50 for the entire family and includes a textbook. The Savannah River Sail and Power Squadron (SRSPS) is conducting free vessel safety checks. These are checks of boats to verify that they have the required safety equipment and documentation. Boats that successfully complete the check are awarded a completion decal. For a free check, e-mail a request to pharris@aug.edu (Georgia) or butch.lynne.rachal@ gmail.com (South Carolina). An examiner will come to the boat's location.
