Airman Neal W. Newsome, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leonus J. Newsome of Harlem, has completed basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. Newsome is a 1963 graduate of Harlem High School.

Specialist Four Kenneth D. Sorrow, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jessie Sorrow of Martinez, received the Army Commendation Medal while serving with the 4th Infantry Division at Fort Campbell, Ky.

Airman Spencer B. Milford Jr., son of Mrs. and Mrs. Spencer B. Milford Sr. of Harlem, has completed basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. Milford is a 1969 graduate of Harlem High School.

Army SFC Ivy Thomas, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Thomas of Surrency, Ga., received the Bronze Star Medal recently near Cu Chi, Vietnam. Thomas' wife, Amenzerolee, lives in Grovetown.
