I wanted to take this opportunity to invite everyone in Columbia County out to our Relay for Life this Friday night at Harlem Middle School.
Relay for Life of Harlem is in our ninth year and we have many fun activities planned by each participating team. There will be games for children of all ages, from Wii tournaments to an Air-Soft shooting range presented by the Chief's Posse - a team made up of employees and citizens of Harlem.
Several "high-dollar" items will be raffled off, including a basket worth more than $500 that includes a gift certificate for $250 from Windsor Jewelers.
The evening will begin at 7 p.m. with our Survivor's Lap followed immediately by the Caregivers's Lap. Anyone who has been diagnosed with cancer can register as a survivor beginning at 6 p.m. A special luminaria ceremony will be held just after dusk to honor and memorialize those who have suffered from cancer.
Luminaria can be purchased online, by calling the local American Cancer Society Office at (706) 731-9900, or at the beginning of the event Friday evening.
Entertainment will be provided by the Sassy Brass Band (www.sassybrass.ws), Sydney Hillman and Sweet Fellowship.
At this point, the Greenbrier Elementary Wolfpack Team has turned in the most money raised. To make a donation, come out on Friday night and enjoy the fun with all of Columbia County or go to relayforlife.org/harlemga.
I hope to see everyone there!
