Augusta Prep and NFL FLAG Football will offer a youth flag football league for boys and girls ages 5-12. Practices and games will be held Sunday afternoons until May 23. For information, e-mail Harry Bacheller at harry. bacheller@augustaprep.org.
The adult travel flag football team Showtime is looking for former high school and college football players to fill its roster. Golf tournaments
Military Appreciation Day golf tournament and barbecue cook-off will be held Saturday at Jones Creek Golf Club. The golf tournament will be composed of 48 three-player teams at $100 per player. The registration fee for the barbecue cook-off starts at $20. Proceeds will benefit Warriors in Transition, Disabled American Veterans, the Charlie Norwood Fisher House and Veterans of Foreign Wars. The Bartram Trail Men's Golf Association is holding its third annual Multiple Sclerosis Golf Tournament May 2 at Bartram Trail Golf Club. Registration is at noon with a 1:30 p.m. shotgun start. Entry fee is $40 for club members and $65 for non-members. To sign up, fax (706) 210-4801.
The Seventh Annual Spring Golf Classic to benefit the Jenny Clark Memorial Scholarship Fund will be held May 12 at the Bartram Trail Golf Club. The tournament will use a Lauderdale format with a shotgun start at noon. The event includes thousands of dollars in prizes, including awards for longest drive and closest to the pin. The Symphony Orchestra Augusta Golf Classic will be held May 17 at Belle Meade Country Club in Thomson. Registration is $100 per person for those older than 35, $75 per person for those age 35 and younger, and $400 for a foursome. Proceeds benefit the symphony's education and community engagement programs. The registration deadline is April 30. Junior Achievement fifth annual charity golf tournament will be held May 20 at Houndslake Country Club in Aiken. The Augusta Elks Lodge will hold its annual golf tournament on May 27 at the Augusta Municipal Golf Course. Cost is $50 per golfer. Corporate and individual participants are welcome.
