With Masters Week and spring break behind us, an April concert series in Columbia County will give residents another reason to sing the blues.

The second annual Blues, BBQ and Brews series will begin Friday at the Columbia County Amphitheater with a performance by area band Tommy O.D. & The Survivors. A barbecue meal will be catered by Red Oak Manor.

"It's a relaxed atmosphere," county Community Events Manager Stacie Adkins said.

The series continues April 23 with a concert by The Lemonsqueezers and dinner provided by Cleve Edmunds' Bar-B-Que, followed by an April 30 performance by The Liz Melendez Band with dinner catered by Shane's Rib Shack.

Both bands are from the Atlanta area, Adkins said.

A variety of beer and wine will be supplied by Vineyard Wine Market.

Last year, about 1,000 people attended each show, Adkins said.

"We were very pleased," she said. "Since it went over so well and the public responded, we're thinking this year they will again support it and come out and have a good time."

Each concert costs $3 to enter. Prices for barbecue and alcoholic beverages will vary by vendor.

The shows will start at 7 p.m., with gates opening at 6 p.m.

The series is designed for all ages, Adkins said.

"If children didn't want to sit there and listen to the music the entire time, there's two playgrounds," she said. "I think it's a family atmosphere."

Guests are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets, but no pets or outside coolers will be allowed.
