Pavilion Party is centered on golf

Out-of-town guests and area residents alike are welcome to attend a golf-themed party in Columbia County during Masters Week.

"It is for anybody who is in town this week," said Columbia County Chamber of Commerce Interim President Tammy Shepherd.

The third annual Party at the Pavilion will take place Thursday at the Savannah Rapids Pavilion, 3300 Evans-to-Locks Road in Martinez.

The party, hosted by the chamber, will feature three raised putting greens and a Nintendo Wii golf game inside the pavilion's ballroom.

Guests can also check out footage from previous Master Tournaments at the Augusta National on big-screen TVs.

New to this year's event is disc golf, which is provided by the International Disc Golf Center at Wildwood Park.

"The one new thing tying in with the golf theme is we're getting a disc golf basket, where people can try their hand at disc golf," Shepherd said.

The party will take place from 6-10 p.m. with tours to the Savannah Rapids Visitor Center lasting until dusk.

Dance music will be provided by DJ Joe Tutt with the CSRA Shag Club and dinner will be catered by Cleve Edmunds' Bar-B-Que. A cash bar will be available.

Tickets cost $25 if purchased by today. A limited number of tickets will be available at the door for $35.

For details or to purchase tickets, call the chamber at (706) 651-0018 or visit www.columbiacountychamber.com.
