But for families not headed to the course or out of town during spring break, Columbia County offers plenty of activities:
The American Red Cross of Augusta will hold a lifeguard training class 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday-Friday for ages 15-older at the Riverwood Plantation pool in Evans, the county's only indoor pool. Adventure Crossing is holding a spring break special -- $19.99 for a laser tag session, eight midway rides, three kart rides and a round of miniature golf. The park, at 4350 Wheeler Road, is open from noon to 10 p.m. Monday-Thursday; 10 a.m. to midnight Friday-Saturday; and noon to 9 p.m. Sunday.
Putt-Putt Golf & Games offers a spring break special, which includes unlimited miniature golf, 20 gameroom tokens, laser tag or bumper boats and a slice of pizza and a drink for $12, through April 12. The center, located 3763 Martinez Boulevard, is open from 10 a.m. to midnight Monday-Saturday; and 11 a.m. to midnight Sunday.
Patriots Park, on Columbia Road near Grovetown, offers free play on an 18-hole disc golf course all day.
The Professional Disc Golf Association is headquartered at the International Disc Golf Center at Wildwood Park in Appling. The center offers the Ed Headrick Memorial Museum, the Disc Golf Hall of Fame and three 18-hole courses and a fully-stocked pro shop. A day on the courses costs $3 for Columbia County residents and PDGA members and $5 for everyone else.
The Columbia County Library in Evans is putting on puppet shows at all of the regularly scheduled story times during Masters Week. Also, "make-and-take" crafts for kids will be available during regular library hours. Story times are held at 10:15 a.m. Monday, Wednesday and Thursday for children ages 2 and under and at 11 a.m. for children ages 3-5. Family story time is held at 4 p.m. on Wednesday.
The library is open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday; from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Friday and Saturday; and 2-5 p.m. Sunday.
Evans Stadium Cinemas 14 has early movie times beginning at 11:30 a.m. The cinemas, 4365 Towne Centre Drive, is open until midnight.
Wildwood Park, 3828 Dogwood Lane in Appling, offers camping, boating, fishing, bike and horse trails, swimming, picnic tables, grills, swings and a volleyball court. Park admission is $3 per vehicle and camping is $20 per night.
Mistletoe State Park offers star gazing 7:30-10 p.m. on Monday; and leaf printing at the nature center 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday. The nature center, with hands-on exhibits and mounted animals for viewing, is open Saturdays 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The park is located off Cobbham Road in Winfield.
Monkey Joe's is offering daily spring break specials Monday through Friday, including a Monday Monkey Hunt, Wednesday Wacky Socks Day and Friday Golf Day. All special activities are included in the regular $7.99 all-day admission. Monkey Joe's, at 368 Furys Ferry Road, is open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday-Thursday; 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday-Saturday; and 1-6 p.m. Sunday.
Jump City, 4407 Evans to Locks Road in Evans, offers a 5,000-square-foot inflatable play area, and open play 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. The fee is $3.50 for children ages 2 and younger, and $6.50 for children ages 3 and older.
