Pageant draws near

The Martinez-Evans Jaycettes, sponsors of the 1972 Little Miss Columbia County Pageant, are still accepting contestants for the April 14 event. Girls 3, 4, 5 or 6 years old are eligible to participate.

Twelve girls have entered so far, and they are: Crystal Ann Knapp, Jennifer Chivers, Cheryl Becton, Beth Wilkes, Cynthia Elizabeth Dozier, Amy Carter, Sonya Holley, Jennifer Morris, Mandy Moore, Melissa Ann Copeland, Ginger Wheatley and Channon Coley.

Lions Club adds 40

A new Lions Club has been organized in Harlem, with 40 charter members. The club held its Charter Night on March 18 at the Harlem High School.

Land contest held

The annual Land Judging contest sponsored by the Supervisors of the Little River Soil Conservation District was held in Warren County on March 23. The Future Farmers of America team from Evans High won first place.
