Thank you for the wonderful support The News-Times has offered our organizations in our recent sponsorship of hosting the U.S. Navy Band concert March 22.
The host organizations included the Columbia County Orchestra Association, Augusta Christian Schools, and West Acres Baptist Church. Jenna Martin did a marvelous job helping to inform the public of this community service that we were privileged to host. The News-Times deserves kudos for the invaluable communication organ that they provide to our community.
In a time when so much negative is heard about the federal government, one needs to hear some positive. The U.S. Navy Band and all of our armed forces bands perform goodwill tours in the United States and all over the world. Their commitment to quality and wonderful interpersonal relations are an absolute credit to our nation. They serve as public servants in the truest sense.
Each and every time a citizen has a chance to compliment and affirm our United States military members, it should be done. Whether our troops hold a weapon, a musical instrument or a medical bag, they each represent what America is all about - touching lives and showing what freedom is. These professional men and women are a very positive credit to our nation.
The concert was a great success with more than 1,000 in attendance. The audience was very appreciative. Anyone who was present was inspired by the work that the band did.
Two great climaxes to this wonderful program were: eight area high school band students playing with the Navy Band on a Sousa march; and, the "Armed Forces Salute" recognizing local former, retired and active duty military and their families.
Thank you, News Times, for the wonderful work that you do in letting the public know of this memorable event.
