Flag football league offered

Augusta Prep and NFL FLAG Football will offer a youth flag football league for boys and girls ages 5-12. Practices and games will be held Sunday afternoons from April 18 until May 23. Adopt-A-Stream training

Columbia County Adopt-a-Stream will hold chemical certification training for those interested in monitoring local streams for health and cleanliness. The hands-on class will be held 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Reed Creek Park, behind Zaxby's on Furys Ferry Road in Martinez. MCG run/walk Saturday

The Children's Miracle Network will hold a 5K walk/run around Lake Olmstead Saturday with registration starting at 8 a.m. The event is a fundraiser for the April 18 Miracle Marathon at Julian Smith Casino. Boating safety course offered

A seven-hour boating safety course will be offered by the Corps of Engineers and Coast Guard Auxiliary at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the Thurmond Dam Visitors Center on the South Carolina side of the dam. Cost is $35 or $50 for an entire family, and the fee includes a textbook. Bring your own lunch. Coach gives Alzheimer's talk

Coach Frank Broyles, author of Coach Broyles' Playbook for Alzheimer's Caregivers, will speak 6:30-8:30 p.m. April 5 at the Jabez Sanford Hardin Performing Arts Center at the Columbia County Library in Evans. River trip for students planned

Savannah Riverkeeper will offer a two-day trip on the Savannah River April 17-18 for local middle school students. The cost of the trip is $75 per person and will be limited to the first 40 students who sign up. At the end of the trip, the student who writes the best report will win a new laptop.
