Moms to get help seeking day care

Posted: Sunday, January 31, 2010

The search for child care can be stressful for parents and often involves calls and visits to preschools and day cares.

"It is an important step," said Joy Kay Bell, the president of the MOMS Club of Evans, the local chapter of MOMS Club International. "It is hard."

MOMS Club of Evans is hoping to make that search easier Friday with the second annual Preschool-Mother's Morning Out Fair.

The fair, from 2 to 4:30 p.m. at Patriots Park gym, will feature representatives from area preschools, day cares and mother's morning out programs.

"It'll help you narrow down your list," Bell said. "Last year, we had over 50 families that came through the fair, which was great."

Bell believes having so much information in one location is convenient and will make choosing a child-care provider much easier.

Bell said at least 15 child care providers have confirmed their participation in the event.

Columbia County Board of Education representatives also will be on hand to provide information about the pre-K program.

The event is free. Children are welcome, and the club will provide a supervised play area.

The MOMS Club of Evans is a nonprofit organization that organizes weekly age-specific play dates and offers a monthly calendar of events, a monthly Mom's Night Out and several community service projects benefitting children.
