Planning commission approves rezoning
//
North Augusta Planning Commission approved rezoning about 22 acres along Martintown and Gregory Lake roads for commercial development.
Developer W.K. Dixon & Co. said Saunders Place would be used for mixed-use development and boutique stores, not chain gas stations or fast-food restaurants.
Commission members said they had mixed feelings that the location would create more congestion. Points of entry were reduced to limit the number of businesses in the area.
The commission also approved housing changes at the Village at Bergen Place. The development was originally planned for 77 town homes, but with slow sales, developers will create 46 single-family detached homes instead. The average cost of the homes will be $150,000.
