The Columbia County Planning Commission approved a preliminary plat and rezoning request for two Grovetown properties a mile apart at its Thursday meeting.

The planning and zoning board gave approval to the rezoning of about 11 acres at International Parkway and Grimaude Boulevard.
The property, near Interstate 20, was rezoned from general industrial to light industrial, which is more restrictive than its previous zoning.
The parcel is surrounded by similar industrial properties.
Planning commissioners also passed a preliminary plat for two sections within the Canterbury Farms development off Chamblin Road.
The plat applies to the first two phases of the Bridgewater and Durham sections for a total of 73 lots on nearly 27 acres.
Also at the meeting, Chairwoman Jean Garniewicz and Vice Chairman Jim Cox were re-elected for 2010.
At the end of the meeting, Garniewicz thanked members of the board for her reappointment.
"We all worked very well together last year," she said. "I hope we will continue this year."
