Columbia County's Community Events Department has free 2010 calendars available at the department's office in Building B of the county government complex, at recreation department offices, at all county libraries and at the offices of The Columbia County News-Times.

Church speaker

Democrats meet

The first 2010 general meeting of the Columbia County Democratic Party will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at Liberty Park Community Center, 1040 Newmantown Road, Grovetown. Those attending are asked to bring canned foods for a food drive. For information, call (706) 513-3400.

Tree recycling

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will accept real Christmas trees for recycling as fish habitat through Tuesday at Riverside Middle School on Furys Ferry Road in Evans. For information, call 1 (800) 533-3478.

Dresses sought

Formally Yours, a high school student's program to collect prom gowns for students in need, is seeking donations of prom dresses. Donations may be taken to any location of Tudor's Cleaners or to Coach Dave's Barber Shop in Harlem.
