Local construction projects should be done by local contractors

I do not agree with statement (from a television news story) that the best way to build the expansion of the Columbia County jail is to hire out-of-town contractors.

With more than 10 percent unemployment in Columbia County, it just makes better sense to hire a local contractor who will hire local people to do the work. The money will stay at home instead of all the money going with the workers back to Atlanta or wherever.

Columbia County needs to help its local economy instead of helping someone else's.
