Man says car drove into neighbor's yard
A Martinez man called police last week and said he saw a car drive through a neighbor's yard and hit his mailbox.
The 75-year-old man said he was standing in his yard about 7:30 p.m. Nov. 17 when he saw a white truck with two people inside drive through a stop sign at Miramar and Casa Rosa drives, drive onto his neighbor's property and hit his mailbox.
The truck continued driving toward Columbia Road, but the man said he didn't get the tag number. Police found a side mirror in his yard.
10-year-old receives pornographic text
A Martinez woman called police last week after her 10-year-old son received a pornographic text message containing several sexually explicit photographs.
The woman said she didn't recognize the phone number from which the message was sent.
Martinez man robbed while trying to sell his car
A Martinez man trying to sell his vehicle last week was robbed by three people. The 31-year-old told police a woman contacted him about a vehicle he was selling, and he went to meet her at 10:30 p.m. Nov. 17 at Applecross Apartments.
Three people approached the man and one suspect struck the man in the face with a pistol and took $3,500 and his jacket.
The man said he didn't know the robbers and refused medical treatment.
Playground at Blue Ridge Elementary vandalized
School officials at Blue Ridge Elementary told police Nov. 17 that someone destroyed objects at the school's playground area.
Someone set fire to a 15-foot wooden picnic table. The culprit also stole a tire from a swing and cut the volleyball net.
The school's principal said the damage occurred between 6 p.m. Monday and 8 a.m. Tuesday.
Wheels, tires stolen
A security guard at a Martinez car lot told police last week that someone stole the wheels and tires from a car on display on the sales lot.
The guard at Milton Ruben Chevrolet, 3514 Washington Road, said while patrolling the lot at about 10:40 p.m. Nov. 19 he found a 2008 Dodge Nitro sitting on cement blocks, with $500 worth of wheels and tires taken from the car.
Wallet missing after woman left church
A Martinez woman called police Nov. 17 after noticing her wallet missing after she left Marvin United Methodist Church.
The 61-year-old said she volunteered at the Martinez church on Monday and placed her purse in a room with other related items.
When she went to retrieve her belongings, the woman said that her purse felt lighter, but didn't check it until she arrived home.
