Gospel music

Survey available

The United Way is conducting a community assessment survey through Nov. 29. Survey forms are available on the Columbia County Web site at www.columbiacountyga.gov, or on the United Way site at www.uwcsra.org. Call (706) 724-5544, ext. 131.

Harlem dinner

Harlem's seventh annual Military Thanksgiving, providing Thanksgiving meals to 75 service personnel from Fort Gordon, will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the city's senior center. Donations are being accepted by calling Pat at (706) 556-0609.

Tree lighting, Evans parade

The Christmas in America Festival, the lighting of Columbia County's official Christmas tree, will be held 3-7 p.m. Dec. 5 at the amphitheater in Evans. The 45th annual Martinez-Evans Christmas Parade will be held at 2 p.m. Dec. 6.

Senior seminars

Washington Commons, off Washington Road in Evans, is holding a "Let's Talk Seniors" series of educational presentations during November, with living wills at 10 a.m. Monday, and help for adults with aging parents at 10 a.m. Nov. 30. Call (706) 860-0402.

Holiday service

Damascus Baptist Church, 6375 Ridge Road, Appling, will hold a community Thanksgiving service for northern Columbia County at 6 p.m. today, with refreshments after the service. Call (706) 541-1064.

Parkinson group

The CSRA Parkinson Support Group will hold a holiday celebration potluck dinner at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the dining room at St. John Towers, 724 Greene St. Meat, drink and bread will be provided; guests should bring a side dish, salad, vegetable or dessert.Call (706) 364-1662.

Libraries closed

All three Columbia County libraries will be closed Thursday through Nov. 29 for Thanksgiving holidays, and will reopen at 10 a.m. Nov. 30.
