Columbia County Cares has been involved in two very successful and special events in the past six weeks. On Oct. 1 we had our 12th Annual Family Spaghetti Dinner and Carry Out and on Nov. 16, the Garlic Clove and sponsors put on the Ninth Annual Italian Thanksgiving Feast for us and Golden Harvest Food Bank.
We here at Columbia County Cares are very blessed to be in Columbia County and have so many wonderful supporters. At this time of the year when people are thinking about giving thanks, Columbia County Cares has much for which to be thankful. We would like to thank all our volunteers, who without their help Columbia County Cares would not be able to perform our ministry. We have been blessed with the best volunteers in the world.
This year's spaghetti dinner made us over $7,800, thanks to our many corporate sponsors and the patrons of the dinner. This year's dinner was hosted at St. Teresa's of Avila Roman Catholic Church. We are very thankful to the parish, our volunteers, and the Knights of Columbus for their help in facility setup, cooking and serving the meal.
The Italian Thanksgiving Feast is always a very fun event. We are very thankful to Chef Jeff and his whole staff and to Pam Tucker for her assistance in planning the event. There were many local celebrities and county officials who donated their time to be servers at the event that we want to thank. This year's event made almost $4,400, which was split between us and Golden Harvest Food Bank.
Overall, this year has been a very busy year for Columbia County Cares. We are now serving an average of 470 families a month for 2009. But we would not be able to do this without the many people, churches, organizations, businesses and schools that have helped us in many ways over the past year. God bless you all for your support of the ministry of Columbia County Cares.
