The Columbia County Choral Society will perform songs during a Friday concert that likely will leave audience members eagerly awaiting the arrival of Thanksgiving.

"It's music that appeals to everyone," said Beth Noland, the choral society's publicity chair. "It appeals across generations because it's just good music."

Music Cornucopia begins at 7:30 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church of Evans.

The concert will not only feature Thanksgiving-themed tunes, including Beauty of the Earth and Thanks Be To Thee , but also music from the 1930s and '40s such as I'll Be Seeing You , Somewhere Over the Rainbow and Chattanooga Choo-Choo .

"I think that the younger kids will enjoy hearing what their grandparents used to go to dances and dance to," Noland said.

Between 35 and 40 choral society members will sing during the concert, which incorporates performances by both small ensembles and the entire choral society, she said.

"I think it's going to be an entertaining show, and I think it'll be varied enough that it'll keep people's interests," she said.
