A four-part boating safety class taught by the Thurmond Lake Sail & Power Squadron will be offered Friday, Nov. 10 and Nov. 13 at McCormick County Library in McCormick, S.C. The class covers all aspects of boating: boat handling, docking, right of way, anchoring, aids to navigation, required equipment, state laws and more. A workshop and school on building mountain bike trails will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Thurmond Lake Visitors Center in Clarks Hill, S.C. The event is sponsored by the CSRA chapter of the Southeast Off Road Bicycle Association and will be taught by the International Mountain Bicycling Association's trail crew, whose members will discuss trail building and maintenance. Power Squadron Harvest Ball
The 16th annual Harvest Ball will be held Saturday from 7-11 p.m. at Julian Smith Casino at Lake Olmstead. The event will include dinner, dancing, live music and a silent auction.
