Cheerleading school

Four Harlem High students representing the Harlem varsity cheerleading squad recently attended the Golden Eagle Cheerleading School held at the University of Georgia.

Sandra Deal, Doreen Gandziarski, Dawn Johnson and Nanette Roberts placed first as the overall champion varsity cheerleading squad.

The squad won 10 ribbons, four spirit awards and the first-place trophy and banner.

Voting training

Two training seminars on the use of Columbia County's new vote recorders have been scheduled, according to Vernon Blanchard, elections board chairman.

The training will be in two parts, with one session covering the new vote recorders, and the other part dealing with the election code.

Party center opens

The Democratic Club of Columbia County opened its headquarters at 112 Bobby Jones Expressway, just off Washington Road in Martinez.

A spokesman for the Democratic Party said the headquarters will be open Monday through Friday through the Nov. 4 General Election.

Funds sought

The Gibbs Memorial Library Building Fund needs support.

Donations might be sent to the County Library Building Fund.

To date, donations to build the county library have totaled $8,076.
