Area cross country teams got some "good prep" Oct. 17 for upcoming region and state meets.

Greenbrier and Lakeside traveled to Gainesville College to compete in the Reebok Coach Wood Invitational, which featured top teams from three classes.
Greenbrier's boys finished second as a team in the varsity boys division behind Lakeside-Dekalb. The Wolfpack were led by senior Robert Blackwelder, who finished fourth at 17:26. Two of Blackwelder's teammates, Barret Duncan (15th) and Brandon Coombs (20th) also finished in the top 20.
Greenbrier's girls finished seventh in the varsity division. Erin Payne led the Wolfpack with an 11th place finish at 21:02.
Lakeside boys finished seventh in the championship division. Shane Wilson (42nd) was the top finisher.
The Panthers girls also finished seventh in the championship division. Lakeside's top three runners -- Anna Bowles, Sarah Bowles and Katie Townsend -- each finished in the top 7. Anna Bowles ran in 18:56 and finished second.
The Region 3-AAAA meet will be held Saturday at Blanchard Woods Park. Greenbrier will travel to Atlanta to run in the Region 2-AAAAA meet.
Lakeside grad waiting for ring
Former Lakeside pitcher Tim Frazier and his teammates at Toccoa Falls College are expecting some hardware soon after winning a national baseball title in May.
Frazier, a 2008 graduate, walked on at Toccoa Falls as a freshman. He pitched an inning and a third of the school's 5-3 victory over Southeastern University to claim the National Christian College Athletic Association national championship.
Frazier, a left-hander, served mostly as a reliever his senior season with the Panthers and was known for having a stealthy pick-off move.
