Mallory Marlowe, from Evans, a freshman at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, recently became a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority.
Scholarship awards
Jonathan A. Ham, of Augusta, has been awarded the $1,000 Leadership Scholarship from Chick-fil-A. He was nominated by Michael Brown, operator of Chick-fil-A of Augusta Exchange.
Ansley Thompson, from Evans is studying biology at Valdosta State University; Elise Mackert ,from Evans, is studying at Covenant College; Britland Gove, from Evans, is studying psychology at Augusta State University; and the most recent recipients are Austin Duncan, from Martinez, who is studying architectural engineering, and Kate Jones, of Evans, who is studying biology. All are recipients of a $1,000 Leadership Scholarship from Chick-fil-A nominated by Jason Adams, operator at the Chick-fil-A restaurant at Mullins Crossing.

Penn State Scholarship
The Penn State Club of Aiken-Augusta has awarded its annual scholarship to Priyanka Kuverji . This year's scholarship was in excess of $3,900. Kuverji, of Martinez, is a senior biology major at Penn State's main campus at University Park, Penn. The scholarship is available to eligible Penn State students who live in the Central Savannah River Area.

Davidson College award
Rachel R. Marks , the daughter of Dr. Stuart and Susan Marks of Evans, received the Sandy Black Memorial Award in premedical studies. Marks, a studio art major, is a member of the Alph Epsilon Delta premedical honor society, and serves as a pharmacy technician at the Free Clinic of Our Towns and a nursing assistant at the Concord Free Clinic.

Colleen Hergott of Martinez, received her degree in physical therapy from Baylor University in August, 2009.

Tanika Martin of Appling, has received a master of science in nursing: nurse anesthesia at the summer 2009 commencement exercises at The University of Tennessee.
2010 National Achievement Scholarship Program Semifinalists named
The following local high school juniors requested consideration in the 2010 National Achievement Scholarship Program when they took the 2008 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. These semifinalists are the highest-scoring program entrants from Columbia County: Charles Thomas, Augusta Preparatory Day School, Theresa S. Bailey, Lakeside High School and Zidisha M. Dambuza, Harlem High School.
Advanced Placement Scholars
Ninety-five students at Lakeside High School have earned the designation of AP Scholar by the College Board in recognition of their exceptional achievement on the 2009 college-level Advanced Placement Program Exams.
Afoma Umeano qualified for the National AP Scholar Award. Students qualify by earning an average grade of 4 or higher on a 5 point scale on all AP exams taken, and grades of 4 or higher on eight or more of these exams.
Thirty-two students qualified for the AP Scholar with Distinction. Students qualify by earning an average grade of at least 3.5 on all AP exams taken, and grades of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams. Martinez student receives $1,000 scholarship
Andrea Puccini , of Martinez, and new member of The National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS) Georgia Institute of Technology chapter was awarded the Merit Award scholarship. The Merit Award is a $1,000 scholarship to defer the cost of college education open to new NSCS members.
Georgia Tech 2009 spring Dean's List
Amira Mouna, Daniel Riley and David Schwartz , all from Evans, have been named to the 2009 spring semester Dean's List at Georgia Institute of Technology for earning a 3.0 or higher academic average.
London School of Economics degree
Andrew Fisher , of Martinez, has received a masters degree in finance and economics from the London School of Economics. He is a 2008 graduate of Wake Forest University and a 2004 graduate of Augusta Christian Schools.
