Last Week: 4-2

//

Year to Date: 25-6

Evans (5-1, 4-1) vs. Josey (1-5, 1-4)

Last week: Evans beat Westside 42-26; Josey beat Butler 28-12.

Last meeting: Evans shut out Josey last season 17-0.

All-time: Evans leads 3-2 (last season was first meeting since 1975).

Evans' offense is hot. The Knights have averaged 40 points per game in their four wins since being shut out by Lakeside. Josey is coming off a win, but the Eagles were outscored 188-31 in their five previous contests. The Knights should have little trouble improving to 6-1.

Evans 45, Josey 14

Greenbrier (2-4, 1-2) at Newton (3-3, 1-2)

Last week: Greenbrier lost to Luella 33-7; Newton lost to M.L. King 15-8.

Last meeting: Newton won last season 28-14.

All-time: Last year was the teams' first meeting.

Newton doesn't play like a three-loss team. They battled Stephenson and M.L. King to the very end before losing a pair of close games. Greenbrier will have another tough Region 3-AAAAA contest.

Newton 24, Greenbrier 10

Grovetown (5-3) at Northside-Warner Robins (6-0)

Last week: Grovetown lost to Locust Grove 13-12; Northside beat Coffee 35-3.

Grovetown has had some success in its inaugural season, but this week will be rough. The Warriors face a team that has gone 139-14 since 1998. That stretch includes a pair of 15-0 state title seasons. Northside has wins over Valdosta and Lowndes in 2009. They should roll past Grovetown.

Northside-Warner Robins 49, Grovetown 7

Harlem (1-5, 1-4) at Hephzibah (5-1, 5-0)

Last week: Harlem beat Cross Creek 19-8; Hephzibah beat Glenn Hills 26-12.

Last meeting: Hephzibah won 12-9.

All-time: The schools are tied 10-10 in this series that dates back to 1959.

The Bulldogs picked up their first win of the season last week versus Cross Creek. They also played Hephzibah tough last season. However, this is a much better Hephzibah team. The Rebels did not play well last week, but still got past Glenn Hills. They should stay perfect in region play.

Hephzibah 31, Harlem 10

Lakeside (5-1, 4-1) vs. Cross Creek (2-4, 2-3)

Last week: Lakeside beat ARC 16-6; Cross Creek lost to Harlem 19-8.

Last meeting: Lakeside shut out Cross Creek last season 14-0.

All-time: Lakeside leads series 2-1.

The Panthers picked up a big region win last week versus ARC.

The Panthers should be able to run the table the rest of the regular season. If they do, they will set an all-time school record for wins with nine. They should be able to move one step closer this week.

Lakeside 27, Cross Creek 6

Augusta Christian (2-5) vs. Cardinal Newman (1-4)

Last meeting: ACS won last year 27-0.

The Lions have dropped four consecutive games after last week's homecoming loss to Wilson Hall.

The competition gets a little easier this week, so ACS should get a return trip to the win column.

ACS 27, Cardinal Newman 13
