Fair pageant
Oct. 20 is the entry deadline for contestants in the Miss Columbia County Fair Scholarship Pageant, for women ages 17-24, to be held at 7:30 p.m., Oct. 24 at the Greenbrier High School Auditorium. Town hall
Republican gubernatorial candidate Ray McBerry will hold a town hall meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Jabez Sanford Hardin Performing Arts Center at the Columbia County Library. Call (706) 799-4483.
Food drive
The Columbia County Farm Bureau is collecting staple food items and monetary donations until Nov. 1 during the statewide Harvest for All Campaign. Food collected during the drive will be distributed to food banks throughout Georgia. Donations may be brought to the Farm Bureau office at 330 Milledgeville Road, Harlem, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday. Call (706) 556-6258.
Gardening at Lunch
The Columbia County Extension Service Gardening at Lunch series continues at noon Wednesday with a program on fragrant shrubs. Future programs include, Winter-blooming Plants, Nov. 11; and Gardening on a Shoestring, Dec. 2. For information, call (706) 868-3413.
Art of Chocolate

South Columbia Elementary School will hold its pumpkin patch carnival from 5-9 p.m. Friday at the school, 325 McCormick Road, Martinez.
Brookwood Elementary School will hold its fall festival from 6-9 p.m. Friday at the school, 455 S. Old Belair Road, Grovetown.
The Evans Elementary School PTO will hold a fund-raising yard sale at the school, 628 Gibbs Road, Evans, from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, rain or shine. Donations for the sale may be dropped off at the school on Friday from 2-6 p.m.
