Clothing sale

The Columbia County Foundation for Children Resource Center, 6347 Columbia Road, Appling, will hold a $3 bag sale on summer clothing through Thursday. The center is open from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, and on first Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Call (706) 541-2849.

Lakeside Middle School will hold its annual book fair through Friday in the media center.

Christian women

Beverly Saleeby, of Hendersonville, N.C., will be the guest speaker at 11 a.m. today for the monthly luncheon of the Augusta Christian Women's Connection at the Augusta Jewish Community Center in Evans. Cost is $12, and a nursery will be provided. Call (706) 925-5316.

Wine tasting

Fish fry

R.J. Hadley, a candidate for the U.S. Senate seat held by Johnny Isakson, will be the guest speaker at the Columbia County Democratic Party fish-fry fundraiser from 5 to 10 p.m. Friday at Savannah Rapids Pavilion. Call (706) 513-3400.

Yard sale

Friday is the deadline to donate items for the fundraising yard sale for When HELP Can't Wait, a charitable organization providing assistance to seniors in nursing homes. The sale will be from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Oct. 3 at its office, 3822 Commercial Court, across from the Martinez post office. Call (706) 729-8991.

Dinner theater
