Jail inmate charged in property damage

An inmate at the Columbia County Detention Center was charged Thursday after damaging property in a jail cell.

Patrick Brian Logan, 37, of Grovetown, was charged with interference of government property, which is a felony. A deputy with the sheriff's office said Logan damaged a sprinkler head in the cell at about 11 p.m.

At the time of the incident, Logan was being held in the jail with no bond for a probation violation.

Alcohol stolen from Grovetown home

A Grovetown man called police Thursday after someone came into his house through a window and stole alcohol.

The 44-year-old said that sometime between 7 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. a person removed the screen from his front window, while he wasn't home. Bottles of Jose Cuervo tequila and Ron Rico rum, worth about $90, were taken from the residence on Linville Falls Road.

The man said his windows were open when he was away from the house.

Television is stolen from Evans home

An Evans man told police Aug. 31 that his plasma television was taken during a break-in at his house on Aspen Laurel Drive.

The 38-year-old said he discovered his rear door had been kicked in and door frame shattered when he returned to his residence on the 5300 block of Aspen Laurel Drive at about 3:30 p.m. The Sanyo TV, worth about $2,800, was the only item missing.

The dead bolt on the back door was locked at the time of the break-in.

Basketball goal moved from lot

An employee with Atlanta Gas Light Co. called police Sept. 1 after he realized the company's basketball goal had been moved.

The 48-year-old said that during the morning hours someone moved the basketball goal from 4374 Wheeler Road in Martinez to the rear of the Ridge Crossing apartment complex.

The man brought the goal back to the parking lot and said he would prosecute if a suspect is found.
