Anyone interested in running for a Grovetown City Council seat can qualify for the November election this week.
City Councilman Bruce Stoddard and City Councilwoman Rosa Lee Owens will be up for re-election on the November ballot.
Incumbent Stoddard earned his second consecutive term in the same election. Both the mayor and city council members serve four-year terms.
Long time resident and museum board member Rosa Lee Owens was elected in November 2007 to fill the two unexpired years of current Mayor George James' term when he resigned in Aug. 2007 to run for the mayoral seat.
Qualifying runs through 4:30 p.m. Friday.
To qualify, candidates must submit a written application and $108 application fee between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. any day this week at City Hall at 103 Old Wrightsboro Road.
Candidates must have resided in the city for at least a year, be a registered voter and be at least 25 years old before the election.
Voters in the election must live inside the city and be a registered voter. Voter registration ends at 5 p.m. Oct. 5.
