The Virginia Tech marching band will perform during a Friday football game at Lakeside High School in remembrance of a fallen bandmate.

The band will play as part of a fundraising event in honor of Ryan Clark, a 2002 Lakeside graduate, band member and Marching Virginian slain in the April 2007 shooting rampage at the Blacksburg, Va., campus that took 32 lives.

The 350 Virginia Tech band members will join the marching bands from Lakeside and Evans high schools for The Star Spangled Banner before the 7:30 p.m. kickoff.

The band will again take the field at halftime with a special performance honoring Clark, a baritone horn player and section leader known as "Stack" to his bandmates.

The area Virginia Tech Alumni Association, which organized the event, will be selling T-shirts and collecting donations for the Ryan Clark Scholarship and Community Service Award, said Patty Weatherman, an alumni association member.

Advance tickets are available for $5 from the Lakeside High office. Tickets will be sold at the gate for $6.

For information, search for the CSRA Virginia Tech Alumni Association on Facebook, e-mail csrahokies@yahoo.com, or call Weatherman at (704) 995-2294.
