As the sun goes down in September, three movie showings will be offered at the Columbia County Amphitheater.

"It gives them (the public) something to do outdoors," said county Community Events Manager Stacie Adkins. "They're not stuck inside."
The fourth annual Screen on the Green movie series will feature the animated flick Open Season 2 on Sept. 5, the canine-centered movie Hotel For Dogs on Sept. 12, and the popular vampire film Twilight on Sept. 19.
Adkins said she wanted to show the first Twilight movie before The Twilight Saga: New Moon comes out in theaters in November. She said she also wanted to provide a film that teens would enjoy.
"All of our events we do gear toward families," she said. "We're hoping that (for) teen-agers, it'll give them something to do."
The movies will be shown on a 30-foot-high inflatable screen at the amphitheater. Tiered seating can accommodate at least 750 people, and an additional 300 guests can sit in an overflow area.
Tickets can be purchased for $2 at the gate, which will open at 6 p.m. Movie showings will start at dark.
Last year, an average of 600 guests attended the series, Adkins said, adding that the weather was typically nice each night.
Adkins encourages movie-goers to bring blankets and chairs to the showings.
"They can bring picnics, but concessions are also on site," she said.
Pets and items such as pop-up tents, grills and alcohol are not permitted within the gates.
