Lake ministry

St. John United Methodist Church's summer lake ministry is held each Sunday at 8:45 a.m. through Aug. 30 at the church's Thurmond Lake site near Modoc, S.C., with nondenominational services led by area ministers and lay leaders. Visitors can drive to the church's camp off U.S. Highway 28 (Furys Ferry Road) or arrive by boat.
