Army National Guard Pfc. Heather K. Miller has been mobilized and activated for deployment overseas to a forward operating base in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. The private, a military police officer with one year of military service, is normally assigned to the 178th Military Police Company, Monroe, Ga. She is the daughter of Lee and Patty Miller of Thomson and a 2006 graduate of Thomson High School.
Army 1st Lt. D.I. M. Smith has deployed to Iraq to support the mission of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Smith, a medical-surgical registered nurse, is normally assigned to the Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center at Fort Gordon. She has served in the military for more than 10 years. She is the daughter of Rita D. Smith of Grovetown.
Deployment returns
Army Reserve Sgt. Donna B. Quinn is returning to the U.S. after a deployment to the Iraqi Theater of Operations in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Quinn, a military police member with three years of military service, is normally assigned to the 340th Military Police Company, Flushing, N.Y. She is the daughter of David H. Quinn of Martinez. The sergeant graduated in 1997 from Lakeside High School, and received a bachelor's degree in 2002 from the John Jay College of Justice, New York City, N.Y.
Army Reserve Sgt. Jennifer L. Marquardt is returning to the U.S. after a deployment to the Iraqi Theater of Operations in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. The sergeant, a broadcast maintainer with six years of military service, is assigned to the 222nd Broadcast Operations Detachment, based in Bell, Calif. She is the sister of Lisa D. Teglash of Martinez.

Navy Seaman Recruit Gerald A. Allen , a 2006 graduate of Greenbrier High School, Evans, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.
Army Pfc. Thomas Murphy has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia. He is the son of Claudia and Thomas Murphy, of Evans. Murphy is a 2007 graduate of Greenbrier High School.
Army National Guard Pfc. Diogenes Mitchell has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia. He is the son of Willie and Annie Mitchell, of Augusta. Mitchell graduated in 1999 from Glenn Hills High School, Augusta, and earned a degree in 2004 from Augusta Technical College.
Air Force Airman Ka'neesha S. Caldwell graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. She is the daughter of Gwendolyn Crosby, of Grovetown, and a 2008 graduate of Harlem High School.
Air Force Airman Jerald S. Wells graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Carol Anchor, of Evans, and James Wells, of Augusta. Wells is a 2002 graduate of Evans High School.
Army Pvt. John B. Pardue has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia. Pardue earned distinction as an honor graduate. He is the son of Chuck Pardue, of Augusta, and Deborah Pardue, of Atlanta. Pardue is a 2003 graduate of Greenbrier High School.

Army Pvt. Katelyn S. Powell has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia.
She is the daughter of Debbie Powell, Evans, and a 2008 graduate of the Youth Challenge Academy in Fort Stewart.
Commissioned
Henry L. Sims Jr. has been commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force after graduating from Officer Training School (OTS) at Maxwell Air Force Base, Montgomery, Ala.
Sims, a communications and information officer, has served in the military for 11 years. He graduated in 1996 from Thomson High School.
