School vaccines

Monday is the final day Columbia County Health Department will hold a back-to-school immunization walk-in clinic, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at all three clinics. Call the Evans clinic at (706) 868-3330, the Appling clinic at (706) 541-1318, or the Euchee Creek clinic at (706) 556-3727.

School supplies

Grovetown Masonic Lodge 730 is holding a school supply drive, with a collection box at Grovetown City Hall.

Lake ministry

St. John United Methodist Church's summer lake ministry is held each Sunday at 8:45 a.m. this month at its lake site near Modoc, S.C., with nondenominational services led by area ministers and lay leaders. Visitors may drive to the camp off U.S. Highway 28 (Furys Ferry Road) or go by boat.

Backpack blessing

The Church of the Holy Comforter, 473 Furys Ferry Road, Martinez, will hold the annual Blessing of the Backpacks during the 10:30 a.m. worship service today. Participants are asked to bring school supplies for needy students. Call (706) 210-1133.

Sportsman's fest

Reed Creek Park holds educational events including preschool nature walks from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday and Aug. 20; wilderness survival for ages 10 and older, 4:30-5:30 p.m. Wednesday; animal identification 4:30-6:30 p.m. Aug. 19; and insect investigations 10-11 a.m. Aug. 29. Call (706) 210-4027.

Middle East talk

David Weisberg, the executive director of Friends of the Arava Institute, will discuss Environment as a Bridge to Peace in the Middle East, at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Augusta Jewish Community Center in Evans. Admission is free. Call (706) 228-3636.
